A Ring and a Star.
The ring represents a series of spaces all linked together around the site and the star represents the water in the park exploding outward to embrace the city. Together these two simple moves initiate the rebirth of AZCA into a place where everyone feels invited and all Madrilenos can feel there is something there for them.
The ring is a welcoming, easy to navigate promenade with exceptional thermal comfort that connects a series of places that are full of life and activity. The star is an innovative and expressive water system that uses water to reach out to the city and reconnect it with the heart of the site. Both elements will be catalysts for a phenomenal new green space for Madrid and will breathe new life into the wider area.
Embedded in both, is a sustainable philosophy that underpins the entire proposal; reduce, reuse and recycle. This approach brings new meaning to the place, just as the prefix re gives new meaning to the acronym AZCA.
